Why I only go to Disneyland alone.
Whoever told you that Disneyland was better with friends, or worse family, was lying to you. Now, I’ve been to The Happiest Place on Earth many times and let me tell you my friend I have seen the light on the other side. Listen to me when I tell you this: next time you go to Disneyland, do yourself a favor and go alone.
Think about it, do you really want to spend upwards of $200 a day to argue with your friends about which rides to ride, where to eat and what shows to see? I know I don’t. You are a princess, and Disneyland is your kingdom; a trip to Walt’s Kingdom should be about you and you only.
I too was a poor, unfortunate soul once. I used to go to Disneyland with upwards of ten people at a time, and it was horrible. We spent hours bickering about what to do next, coordinating Fastpasses was a nightmare, people needed bathroom breaks every thirty minutes, no one could agree on where to eat, seating arrangements were an elaborate logistical popularity contest, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. Never again.
Now I only go to Disneyland alone. I can ride whatever rides I want, whenever I want to. I can eat my favorite foods without worrying about other people’s preferences. I can rest when I want to rest without feeling guilty. There’s also no social pressure; I’m free to be a kid again without worrying about what my friends or family will think about me. Disneyland is a place to escape your problems for a few days, and as much as I love my friends, they are certainly not drama-free.
So, this idea that you need to go to Disneyland with people, let it go. If you’re still feeling apprehensive, check out these handy, dandy FAQs. But trust me, Disneyland is better solo.
FAQs:
Q: But Sam, who will take my photos?
A: PhotoPass photographers, free with MaxPass.
Q: What if there are no PhotoPass photographers?
A: Ask a park guest; I promise we don’t bite.
Q: Won’t I be lonely?
A: You’re in Disneyland; you’ll be having too much fun to realize you’re alone.
Q: Isn’t awkward sitting next to strangers on rides?
A: Not really, you’ll be so focused on the ride you won’t even notice who is next to you. Besides, you’d run into the same problem if you went with an odd number of people.
Q: But —
A: But nothing, trust me.
